Erling Haaland's 31 goals this season include 25 in 20 Premier League games
Erling Haaland scored his fourth Manchester City hat-trick and took his goal tally for the season to 31 in all competitions as relegation-threated Wolves were swept aside by Pep Guardiola's men.
Lopetegui rued poor first half performance and changed his attack at half time. This was the first significant setback for Julen Lopetegui since he replaced Bruno Lage as Wolves boss during the World Cup. If there is comfort for the former Spain and Real Madrid coach, it comes from the knowledge there are not many more demanding tests than this, even if his side only remain outside the relegation zone on goal difference.

Jurgen Klopp said he has waited "ages" for Liverpool to win a game with a positive performance, after the Reds booked their place in the FA Cup fourth round with a gutsy victory over Wolves at Molineux. Harvey Elliott's stunning first-half drive earned Klopp's team their first win since the turn of the year, just three days after a dismal defeat at Brighton in the Premier League. Wolves applied heavy pressure in the latter stages but the much-changed visitors held on to book a fourth-round meeting with the Seagulls on Sunday, 29 January. Wolves' improvement under Julen Lopetegui has been clear to see but the home side failed to seriously threaten Caoimhin Kelleher's goal until late on, when Ruben Neves, Raul Jimenez and Matheus Cunha all went close to an equaliser.

Wolves' four Premier League wins this season have all come by a single goal Wolves climbed out of the relegation zone for the first time in three months and dumped West Ham in the bottom three to increase the pressure on manager David Moyes.
Daniel Podence scored the only goal when he drove home Matheus Nunes' cross three ' after half-time.
Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui punched the air in delight at the final whistle. The former Real Madrid and Spain boss is now responsible for half of Wolves' four league wins this season and would have secured Wolves' most convincing victory had Raul Jimenez's stoppage-time effort not been ruled out for offside. Julen Lopetegui praises Wolves 'character and commitment'

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper says reaching a first EFL Cup semi-final in 31 years will offer old and new fans the chance to dream after being drawn against Manchester United. Forest beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw to set up the clash against the team they were beaten by in the 1992 final. Wolves should have been awarded a match- winning penalty as Cunha was brought down by Aurier who escaped scot free. Dean Henderson was the penalty shootout hero as Cooper's side overcame Wolves at the City Ground. Henderson turned away Ruben Neves' spot-kick after Jose Sa had denied Sam Surridge, then turned away Joe Hodge's effort following Forest converting all four of their remaining penalties. Forest had led in normal time when former Wolves pair Morgan Gibbs-White and Willy Boly combined, with Gibbs-White hanging an excellent first-half corner into the six-yard box and Boly stabbing home from close range.
Wolves scored a superb equaliser when new loan signing Matheus Cunha's low cross invited the finish from striker Raul Jimenez. The game ended with ugly scenes in the centre of the pitch, with stewards involved to pull the players apart as tempers frayed after MGW had a go at the travelling Wolves fans.

Liverpool and Wolves were forced to settle for an FA Cup third-round replay after a thrilling encounter finished level at Anfield. Wolves led after Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson horrifically gave the ball away and Goncalo Guedes tapped home. D rwin Nunez's classy left-footed volley pulled Liverpool level, before Mohamed Salah side-footed them ahead. Hwang Hee-chan then came off the bench to earn Wolves a replay, with the ball ricocheting in off his side. Wolves thought they had won the game when Toti flicked home, but the linesman had ruled it offside earlier in the move. Wrongly - as The Athletic proved

Ings has scored four goals in seven Premier League appearances against Wolves
Substitute Danny Ings' late equaliser earned Aston Villa a point and denied Wolves an important Premier League victory in their West Midlands derby at Villa Park. Ings cancelled out Daniel Podence's delightful first-half strike as he lifted the ball past Jose Sa after his run behind the defence was picked out by Tyrone Mings' superb pass. Podence ensured the visitors capitalised on their purposeful start as the Portuguese forward weaved past Douglas Luiz before curling a 12th-minute opener beyond World Cup-winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. Making his first appearance since lifting the World Cup with Argentina last month, Golden Glove winner Martinez was called upon to deny Matheus Nunes at close range as the visitors continued to offer the greater threat. The hosts eventually sparked into action in the final 20 minutes, with Max Kilman heading Ludwig Augustinsson's shot off the line before Ings' leveller. But despite relentless pressure they were unable to force a late winner and an emotional Leon Bailey had to be consoled by his team-mates at the full-time whistle after he missed a late chance, shooting wide from an angle after rounding Sa in stoppage time.
